Thanks to a B+S reader for tipping me off on this one! This Wednesday, Soda Pop’s will soft open at 349 North La Cienega Boulevard, a bit north of Beverly across the way from Largo. Helmed by David Puopolo and Brent Mimeault, who attended culinary school together in Boston, the sandwich shop will offer hot and cold sandwiches (pickle and house-made chips included), a few choice salads and sweet treats (chocolate chip cookies, brownies and the like), and, of course, an array of soda pop, with most items around $8-$10. Artisan meats are sourced from Tama Trading and Pontrelli.
The interior is clean-lined in white and black with touches of red; benches, tables and even garbage receptacles are made from reclaimed wood from a lumberyard in the San Fernando Valley. There’s also a substantial parking lot in back.
The interior, more on the menu…

You can count me in for the Flank Steak ‘N’ Blue (balsamic marinated flank steak, caramelized onions, gorgonzola, grilled radicchio on crusty baguette) or the French Ham and Cheese (rosemary ham, camembert, cornichons, trappist apple mustard on baguette), or the B.E.L.T (applewood slab bacon, fried egg over easy, Boston lettuce, vine-ripe tomato, avocado and herb aioli on sourdough toast). Hours are Mon-Sat 11am-5pm for starters.

One of the worst experiences for a sandwich shop. Food is good though.
