Lira,

There wouldn't be a split fee for salad, appetizer, soup or desert so long as you are willing to share the plate. We do it all the time.

When you split the fried Chicken rather than getting one plate with three pieces and the sides. You get two plates with 2 pieces on each plate and sides on each plate. It ends up being more food.

If you do ever go there I highly recommend the goat cheese quesadilla, if you like goat cheese, and the blue berry crumble.

Lira,

Well, it's so much food, honestly, a salad would be A LOT of food with the chicken. But, yeah, of course, throw in a couple glasses of wine, beer, cocktails, etc and you will exceed $50. We happened to get root beer and ginger ale, so we got out of there pretty reasonably.

Agree with you about the elusive $50 benchmark and, yeah, we do eat out. A lot. And not just at casual places. And, in fairness, that's a helluva lot of chicken. I just don't know how you get out of there for $50 if you're going to each have a drink and, say, split a salad (especially with the split fee--ha).

Lira, it's not just you but what I think you are missing what this is if you never have been there... this is good high quality food palce. This isn't a sloppy neighborhood joint. The fried chicken is high quality breast meat that is soaked in buttermilk then breaded, baked and flash fried. You aren't going to get fried chicken that tastes this good and is this "good" for you anywhere else.

The restaurant is not a casual dining type of place and the prices reflect it. For my husband and I to go to a nice restaurant in LA and get outta there for $50 or less is a pretty good deal in my book...but it is relative, no doubt.

Maybe it's me but $25 seems a little high for fried chicken at a neighborhood joint but a split fee of $12 is just ridiculous--that's half the price of the dish.
