I noticed some work being done over the weekend at the former Celadon space at 7910 West 3rd Street just west of Fairfax, and workers said that it was being remodeled to open as a “Venitian-style restaurant” in mid-January. Hm, we’ll see. This location has just not worked for previous restaurants. It seems the longest stretch was Tahiti…

That location is doomed to fail. First thing you learn in business school is don’t open the same business where previous businesses of the same nature failed.
The only exception to this that I have seen is our Whole Foods. There was a string of rotten grocery stores that failed there before Whole Foods came.

I got some great kitchen stuff at the Celadon online auction, so it will live on in my house. I even got a coffee table!

Interestingly enough, Alex, the only failure was the Albertson’s, and that occurred only because they bought out the Lucky Stores chain, and Lucky was successful there, yet leave it to Albertson’s… Then they tried to change it back, but….

The one restaurant that did do well in the space was the Vegetarian restaurant, if anyone remembers. The Sikhs owned and ran the place.
