I was very psyched a couple weeks ago to receive an advance copy of Eat: Los Angeles 2010, the Eat LA accompaniment and food guide edited by writer and publisher of Prospect Park Books Colleen Dunn Bates, along with a team of writers, journalists and bloggers. Covering 1,300-plus food spots (from restaurants and food trucks to wine shops and ethnic markets), I love that the content is very clearly written by locals entrenched in the city’s culinary landscape.

I was additionally pleased to receive an invite to last night’s launch party for the book at Traveler’s Bookcase (8375 West Third Street; where the book is now avail for $19.95; or online), which included food trucks Let’s Be Frank, The Grilled Cheese Truck, and Coolhaus, plus pork satay from Sate Babi Manis (626-643-9197) and fried cheese quesadillas from Nina’s Catering Service (323-263-8360; 323-807-6813; 323-898-0438). A crowd, which packed the entire tented space out back, was also very enthusiastic.

The food this way!

Glad you got to come! Sorry I didn’t see you there. (I can see my plaid jacket right in the center of your photo!)
    That pork satay was delish.
