I happily browsed Assouline’s just-opened West Coast flagship at 8475 Melrose Place yesterday, the signature deep red space meticulously stocked with the publishing house’s collection of fashion, architecture, culture, photography, food and spirits, and vintage books.
What’s even more exciting is that the book purveyor has partnered with Bastide (this is, I believe, the restaurant’s third incarnation) at the location, now offering up more casual fare in a truly elegant setting. Of note is the small interior space of tables surrounded by Beverly Hills Hotel leafy wallpaper and a wall of live greenery. The front courtyard is expansive and a welcome outdoor eating space (it still amazes me there aren’t more in this sunny city!).
And while there are lots of pricey tomes, there are also high-value options for under $20, great gifts.
Check the courtyard and more interior shots…
